RUNAWAY TRAILER CAUSES FOUR-CAR ACCIDENT ON I-75.(NEWS)

A runaway flatbed trailer wreaked havoc on Interstate 75 in both directions south of Walton, Ky., Friday afternoon, injuring one woman and three children in a four-car accident.
Pamela Vangilder, 41, of Memphis, Tenn., was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati with head and arm injuries. She was in serious condition Friday night.
Ms. Vangilder's children, Paul Vangilder, 11, Sarah Vangilder, 6, and Emily Vangilder, 4, were treated and released from St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. Sarah Vangilder was transferred to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati and released.
Boone County, Ky. police said Steven Grubbs, 37, of Verona, Ky., was driving a pickup truck pulling a 12-foot flatbed trailer in the northbound left lane on the highway when the trailer detached.
The trailer veered west over the median, striking a car driven by Milton Rose, 40, of Crittenden, Ky., before hitting Ms. Vangilder's car. Ms. Vangilder's car flipped once. The trailer next struck a car driven by Ronda Morris, 44, of Miamisburg, Ohio. Her car was rear-ended by Brad Lakhia, 24, of Union, Ohio.
Boone County Police Lt. Jack Banks said no charges have been filed. Officer Jerry Demoisey is investigating.
